Hopefully you had a chance to watch President Obama present his much anticipated Climate Action Plan at Georgetown University. If not, you can watch it HERE. The President’s detailed plan (21 pages) sets forth, among other things, a proposal for new carbon standards on power plants which would cut carbon pollution that causes climate change and threatens public health.
There were quite a few encouraging steps mentioned in the President’s plan.
I walked away from his speech with two important realizations:
- The issue of climate change crosses party lines. Whether you’re a Democrat, Republican or a member of any other party- climate change affects us all.
- President Obama’s Climate Action Plan is only the first step. There’s much more needed. We must all continue to work together to effectuate change.
It’s always interesting after something so monumental is shared to talk with others about their perspective. I had a chance to connect with a few passionate moms who were willing to share their reaction to the President’s plan. Please hop on over to Moms Clean Air Force to see what they had to say.
Now it’s your turn. I would love to hear your thoughts on President Obama’s Climate Action Plan!
I’m a little unimpressed with his big talk about dealing with climate change when he is still going through with the Keystone XL pipeline. He is obviously just saying what he knows people want to hear, while doing whatever he wants.
I also took away from the speech that it is going to take all of us standing up and telling our elected officials that acting now to address climate change is a pre-condition of our vote for them in upcoming election.
I loved the fact that it was taking place during a heat wave and the President was sweating through out the speech.
I am also very thankful that on the same day, we were able to elect Ed Markey to the US Senate representing Massachusetts.
Here’s my brief write-up on this big day including the video of the speech http://www.greenlifestylechanges.com/big-day-for-planet-earth/

While I was watching it, some of the quotes he said could have been perceived as arrogant. Especially when he said: “I dont have much patience for anyone who denies this challenge is real. We don’t have time for a meeting of the flat earth society.” … burn. I posted this quote to my G+ stream and then some lady who obviously doesn’t believe in climate change started cursing in my comments. When I asked her why she was so upset (a little trolly I know…) she said that he is arrogant and Obama is fueling nothing but junk science. Well, maybe she is a part of the flat earth society…who knows.
