Everyone has one of those drawers in their kitchen that’s overflowing with stuff (don’t they?). I have a few. One of those drawers is filled with all different types of reusable snack and sandwich bags with a few other odd n ends thrown in. I’ll admit it’s not neatly arranged, so I will spare you a photo of the mess. My kids reach in daily as they’re packing their lunch and pull out their bags of choice.
Did you know that Children’s lunches create more than 3.5 billion pounds of garbage each year? This amounts to a crazy 18,760 pounds of trash annually from an average sized elementary school. That’s a lot of waste.
If you pull apart a typical lunch box you will find a sandwich in a plastic baggie, all sorts of individually wrapped snacks, possibly some fruit and a drink container. Once lunch is over the wrappers from each of these items makes its way into the garbage can.
After witnessing her own children tossing plastic baggies, Jenn decided that it was time to create a cool reusable bag and so Againbags was born.
Againbags come in 3 different sizes, small, medium and large. The large is the perfect size for a sandwich and the medium and small are great for a variety of snacks. Each bag has a strong Velcro enclosure. These bags wouldn’t work well for liquid or any item that could leak-they don’t fully close around the edges and the material isn’t leak proof. We’ve been using the bags for sandwiches, crackers, pretzels and even carrots.
The bags can be thrown in the dishwasher or washing machine. They are also non-toxic:
- Lead free
- Phthalate free
- BPA free
Jenn from Againbags has graciously offered to give one Groovy Green Livin reader an Active Bag Set which includes 2 small active bags and 2 large active bags (value $31.80!).
