It’s Wednesday and all over the internet you will find photos with no words of explanation. Why? Because pictures say a thousand words and today is Wordless Wednesday.
When we decided to add a few seeds to our organic garden this year I wasn’t so sure anything would grow. Boy was I wrong. It just keeps growing and growing. I was initially concerned about the time it would take to maintain the garden. I can honestly say that I’ve done almost nothing to this garden (picked a few weeds here and there).
After an 11 day vacation we pulled up to the house to find the garden growing out of control. Before pulling into the driveway the kids jumped out of the car to survey the garden bounty.
And what a bounty it was.
Check out the colorful tomatoes. The purple variety are incredibly sweet.
This zucchini was crazy huge. I haven’t tried it yet, but my guess is that it’s very overgrown and won’t taste very good.
What’s growing in your garden?

The tomatoes look amazing!
Oh my goodness, look at that bounty! The tomatoes look great!
I think growing a veggie garden has gotten a bad “rap”. People tend to think that it’s so much work but, like you, we’ve basically tossed some seeds into some soil and wow … fresh, local veggies all season long. And the taste is incredible. I love that your kids couldn’t wait to check out the garden. Thanks for sharing pictures …. now if I just could find a way to taste them through the screen (LOL).
They are so sweet and delicious. Thanks for the linky!
Hi Kristi-I’m amazed at how many tomatoes we have from just a few plants. They are incredibly easy to grow-no effort on my part! Thanks for hosting a linky 🙂
You are right-really not a much effort once the seeds have been planted. I’m amazed. I think we also had a good weather season for growing this year-that certainly helped!
Isn’t it amazing how much you can harvest from a small vegetable garden? Those cherry tomatoes look delicious. I love snacking on them all day long.
i’ve got to get some of those purple tomatoes for next year!
I usually take the overgrown zucchini and shred it in my foodproccessor to bake with. If I don’t have time to bake I measure it out and freeze it to bake during the winter.
