Calling all moms on the verge of a “green mom nervous breakdown”: Paige Wolfe, the author of Spit That Out!: The Overly Informed Parent’s Guide to Raising Children in the Age of Environmental Guilt
, is here to straighten us out. This book will make you feel less neurotic and more normal-what mom doesn’t want that?
Paige takes us on a journey to sanity with hard and fast facts sprinkled with humor. She is a new mother herself, dedicated to living an eco-friendly and healthy lifestyle. She knows that with the constant stream of ever-changing information on greening your lifestyle, it is hard to know where to turn. Spit That Out! holds our hands and takes us there by turning to experts, real moms, authors, actresses and comedians who help us sort through it all and stay on a reasonable path without losing our minds.
Each chapter is filled with a practical, common sense approach to issues that we are all too familiar with- topics ranging from “Managing a Clean, Green Family Diet”, “Is There a Way to Ease Eco-Anxiety” to “Can a Treehugging Kid Still Watch the Wiggles”? The book is packed with hints, tips, guidance and validation. It teaches us and reminds us that we are only human and we can’t possibly do it all.
At the end of each chapter is a recap entitled “Green Mom Sanity Tips”, laid out in a simple, easy to digest format. Websites, products and tips galore are there for the taking.
This book is for all moms; it doesn’t matter if you’re a crunchy, Birkenstock wearing mommy or a rockin’ stlyin’ mom. This book is for you if you’re desperate to do what’s best for your children and are feeling overwhelmed by the process.
A few more reasons this book rocks:
- For every book purchased Eco-Libris will plant one tree.
- The book was printed on 30% recycled FSC paper.

Sounds good! Gotta read and find out about The Wiggles…
Hi Tiffany, It is a good read-packing with helpful information. I came away feeling that everything done in moderation is OK-even watching the Wiggles (which my kids used to love).
AWESOME, right up my alley…wish I knew about this one before mother’s day 😉 Will have to put in on my wish list!
My older son liked the wiggles for a while…I liked it too until they got the new yellow wiggle…lol…
for a while we were T.V. free now we watch Dino Dan for about 30 minutes per day…at least its educational!
Thanks Lori…I’m going to share this review~
I remember when the new yellow wiggle came-did he replace Greg? It’s been a while since I’ve seen the Wiggles. The book is great-with practical tips throughout. Hope you enjoy Jessica!
I would like to read this one. I already feel like I can relate to the author. I think many folks get overwhelmed and give up – i’ve met many moms like this. It’s hard to find the happy medium in this arena.
