Black Friday and Cyber Monday have passed us by, but for many of us a few gifts are still needed. With long ‘to do’ lists, this time of year can be very hectic and stressful. It’s always refreshing to stumble upon something that makes life a tad bit simpler. Ethical Ocean is a site that does just that-a place with one stop shopping for all. It has pages of eco-friendly, unique gifts for everyone in your family, including your pets! To make things even more convenient for us last-minute shoppers, I spent some time putting together a list of my favorite Ethical Ocean ‘green’ holiday gifts.
Ethical Ocean is different than most sites. It offers only ethical products that are screened before making their way onto the pages of the site. Every product must either be good for people, good for animals or good for the environment. Each product represents more than a product, it has a story.
Kazuri Bead Bracelets
In Swahili, Kazuri means “small and beautiful”. These bright and colorful ceramic beads are made by a community of single mothers just outside of Nairobi, Kenya. The business was established back in 1975 as a help center for needy women who have no other source of income.
It started off with two Kenyan women and it was soon discovered that there were many other Kenyan women in need of regular employment. So it continued to grow into over 350 employees today.
The jeweler, Lara Bazant, of Bazant Unique Adornments supports the Kazuri mission, as well as the Fair Trade Act, by using Kazuri ceramics to create contemporary jewelry. Each of her pieces are individually handcrafted, signed in silver and include a detailed tag that tells the story of where all of the materials originated.
It’s not just a gift, it’s a story. Each time I wear my Kazuri bead bracelet I’m reminded of the amazing women behind the bracelet.
Through December 25th Ethical Ocean is offering FREE SHIPPING on all purchases (anything on their site) over $75!
Disclosure: I was sent a Kazuri bead bracelet for review from Ethical Ocean. Ethical Ocean is a sponsor of this site and there are affiliate links in this post. The opinions expressed in this post are my very own.
