This post is brought to you by Goddess Garden. All opinions are my own.
When I was in my teens I worshipped the sun. That’s when the sunscreen mistakes began. Baby oil, reflectors and hours of free time left me in basking in the sun’s rays for far too long. Many vacations were spent with my grandparents in Florida. I would lay outside on a lounge chair with my grandmother acting as my timekeeper, yelling to me when it was time to turn over, all in the name of a golden tan.
Fast forward to the present. I am now an avid sun avoider. Slathered in safe sunscreen, I do my best to wear hats and seek out the shade. My annual dermatology appointment is a reminder that sun damage is real.
Over the years I’ve made my fair share of sunscreen blunders. Some of them are permanent and others are an easy fix.
How many of these sunscreen mistakes are you “guilty” of?
Forgetting to apply sunscreen over the summer
Guilty. Throughout the hot summer days, there were several times when I headed out without sunscreen. I’ve learned to keep a spare tube of Goddess Garden Organics Sunscreen in the car just in case. Thankfully I never burned, but if I had it’s good to know there’s Goddess Garden Organics After Sun Gel and it now comes in a spray!
Now is the perfect time to repair the damage with an easy nighttime routine including intense hydration and replenishing necessary nutrients to boost the skin’s ability to heal itself. Goddess Garden’s evening skincare products do all of that—naturally.
- Goddess Garden Erase the Day Mineral Removing Cleanser rocks! Made from French green clay, it gently washes away impurities while tightening your skin.
- Goddess Garden Organics Day Undone Sun-Repair Serum is a fast-absorbing sun-repair serum which sends nutrients deep into your skin. It’s meant to counter the cumulative effects of daily sun exposure.
- Goddess Garden Organics Dream Sun-Repair Night Cream is the answer to thick, greasy, night treatments. This lotion isn’t greasy and instantly softens and smooths your skin, while providing an added lifting effect.
Forgetting to apply sunscreen in the fall and winter
With summer days behind us, it’s time to pack away the swimsuits but not the sunscreen. Here in the Northern hemisphere, we’re closer to the sun in the winter. The protective ozone layer is thinner in the winter as well. UVA damage happens year-round, even if you aren’t getting a sunburn. When you also consider snow reflects as much as 80-percent of the UV rays back at us, sunscreen is more important than ever. As we gear up for the winter, now is the perfect time to get into good daily sunscreen habits!
I’m really loving Goddess Garden Organics Face The Day Sunscreen and Firming Primer. It’s light enough to apply every day throughout the year.
Never applying sunscreen in the morning
As a kid, applying sunscreen in the morning was never on my radar. Since discovering that UVA is just as strong all day and all year long sunscreen has become a priority throughout the year. Goddess Garden Organics Face The Day Sunscreen and Firming Primer is so easy to apply before I step out the door.
Forgetting sunscreen on cloudy days
When the clouds are out the sunscreen still needs to be applied. UVA rays, which are known to cause the skin to age, can reach the skin through thick clouds and glass (think car windows).
What sunscreen mistakes have you made? Do you remember to reapply your sunscreen throughout the day?
