My picks for green gift guides 2011
There were so many fabulous green gift guides circulating this year that I didn’t have to create my own (good excuse, eh?). There were a few that stood out and are worthy of sharing:
- Environmental Working Group’s list of Great Books Make Great Gifts: What EWG Is Reading.
- Safe Mama’s Picks for Safer Toys this Holiday Season.
- TreeHuggers Green Gift Guide– from bike share passes to charities, this list covers it all.
- Team Eco-Etsy put together a great Holiday Gift Guide that’s full of ways to make your holidays a little gentler on the planet.
- Retro Housewife Goes Green combined forces with a number of green bloggers for a Green Holiday Blog Carnival, sharing many great ideas for having a greener holiday season (my post, 6 Ways to Prevent Colds and Flu During the Holidays, is included!).
I’m sure I missed other green gift guides that deserve attention. Please feel free to link up in the comment section.

Ready to Wrap
If you are ready to wrap all those gifts head on over to the J.R. Watkins Naturals Clear Conscience Blog for a few eco-friendly alternatives to gift wrap. One of my favorites is to use all of those paintings and drawing from your children as unique and special wrapping paper.
Remember to take some time for yourself during this hectic time of year. Any suggestions? Enjoy!

Drink! Drinks lots of organic wine….:)
Ha-enjoy your many drinks Stephanie! Have a wonderful weekend.
Just this morning I sat with the Christmas cards we received last year and cut out gift tags for presents for this year. It’s one of my favorite “green” holiday tips….plus it saves me money!
That’s such a great idea Cathy! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for including my carnival!
You are so welcome Lisa! Thanks for hosting the carnival.
Thanks for including ESP, Lori! Hope you had a wonderful weekend 🙂
You are very welcome Hannah! Happy to share your non-toxic products.
I know this sounds silly, but I take time for myself while wrapping gifts! It’s the one time you can tell everyone in the family that they can’t come in to the room you’re in… why not take advantage of that? Other than that I bury my nose in a big book and glare at anyone who dares to interrupt me. 🙂
It doesn’t sound silly at all Andrea. It’s so important to find time for yourself. I am a horrible gift wrapper-so I don’t enjoy it all! I like your idea of burying your head in a book-that one works for me.
